We Saw a Problem. And an Opportunity

Managing student activity funds was harder than it should be.

At first, we didn’t understand why—so we investigated.

We found that most schools were using tools that were never designed for managing activity funds, and the few that were built for it were outdated and overcomplicated—made more for accountants than for the people who work in schools.

Even worse, the tools that worked for districts often didn’t work for schools. That’s when we realized this wasn’t just a need—it was an opportunity.

We Started by Asking Questions—and Listening

We knew we couldn’t just build another tool.

We had to truly understand the pain first.

So we spoke with school district administrators, principals, and school treasurers. We asked questions. We listened—and then we asked more questions.

The common theme was clear:

  • Schools didn’t need more complexity.

  • They needed something simple, transparent, and easy to use—at every level.

What We Were Building Became Something Bigger

At first, we thought we were just creating software.

But we quickly realized we were building something much bigger.

Together with school and district leaders, we’re not only changing the way student activity funds are managed—with transparency, simplicity, and accountability—we’re also reintroducing student learning to the process.

As we grow, we keep learning.

Real feedback shapes every improvement, ensuring Account Tree solves transparency and efficiency challenges without losing sight of usability.

And beyond helping schools manage money, our real goal emerged:

To empower students, with oversight from educators, to be part of the process.

Account Tree is a teaching tool?

It's not just student activity fund management software.

Account Tree is a teaching tool.

Have students manage their funds (with built-in oversight) - and they will learn:

  • Accountability and Transparency

  • Leadership and Collaboration

  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving

  • Financial Literacy

Because Student Activity Funds are the best financial literacy tool you aren’t using.

This Is Only the Beginning

Every conversation leads to new ideas.

Every idea moves us closer to building systems that truly serve schools.
